Scaredy Cat

I have to admit that I had to think for a bit before coming up with something that scares me. I was first thinking of red lips but then I never did manage to go get some this week, so that didn't happen. I have no hats to overcome.

So then I thought - as a fashion blogger, I feel like a lot of times, there's pressure to come up with some new, cool outfit. To belt it, or scarf it, or do something crazy. So for something that scares me, I decided to go with a relatively plain Jane outfit. Tee, cardi, jeans.

The belt is purely functional (these pants are a wee big in the waist and I decided that showing the world my underpinnings was not the best course of action, even for the sake of the blog), and the only reason pattern mixing is going on is because this was the first cardi I grabbed on the way out the door. The only jewelry is the necklace my husband gave me that I always wear. I felt a bit...undone, and it wasn't my most favorite outfit ever, but it was kind of liberating.

Huge thanks to Kayla for organizing the Challenge 2.0! Hope you all stick around to see what outfits I come up with on my own!

  2. Interesting that such a simple outfit should make you feel uncomfortable. For me, I throw on jeans and a top after one of these challenges, and I feel like I'm exhaling after a long time holding my breath. Way to go with what scares you, though!

  5. I was thinking about what scares me and one of the things I came up with was being plain. Like dressing in all black, no accessories, little make up. I don't do casual very well if you ask my friends. I rarely wear pants or jeans. I don't own a lot of clothes in between work/dresses and work out clothes.

This is a cute outfit but I get why it might feel uncomfortable to you.

  8. This outfit is so cute. I'm usually an over-accessorizer, so this would be hard for me too. Love, the rolled jeans - it add so much interest to the outfit.

  14. I totally know what you mean. I'm always wondering what else I can add to an outfit to give it that extra pizazz. Great interpretation of the prompt!
